The Swarmandal is harp-like instrument played by khyal singers with the fingers and is generally used for vocal accompaniment. The Swarmandal is tuned to the 3 octaves for a specific raga. The singers plays arpeggios of notes with his/her right thumb.

This instrument features 36 strings (with tuning beads on each string) and includes a storage box and key.
